More songs

There’s a lot going on in Jubilee land at the moment - so much we can hardly keep up with it, it seems. The latest would be that there are now two songs out from the 2nd single, both of which can be purchased on jubilee.la. Of course, if you’ve been wise enough to subscribe, you probably got them a few days ago…

The songs are In With The Out Crowd (formerly known as Frown Town for those who heard it on the tour) and Pioneers Get Shot With Arrows (’Planet Outer Space’ Version). If you wanna refresh your memory as to who plays drums on what and why Pioneers is from outer space, you can read all about it in this old blog post.

Anyway, if you wanna check out the merchandise before buying, you can hear both songs over at the Jubilee MySpace.

And that’s it - for now. I think.

More on touring

According to the latest blog post from the Jubilee MySpace, it also seems that an extensive tour really will kick off in August, starting with the Reading Festival on August 22. In their own words:

So… yeah. Like we’d mentioned earlier, due to having to cancel some festivals, shows, etc… Our touring schedule now begins back at the good ol’ Reading Festival on August 22. Always a good time at the Reading Festival… And quite an interesting way to start our lonnnnnnnnng upcoming touring schedule. Soooo… Besides some extensive UK touring, we’ll also be playing quite a few shows in Ireland. Many more shows will be announced soon, and we’ll be comin’ pretty much everywhere else by the end of the year too. So, yeah… See ya all soon.

Yet another interview!

If you want to see what else Aaron has to say about the new album, what transpired in Leeds and the ratio between his bodily hair and that of Evan Weiss’, then rejoice, because over at Heaven or Las Vegas you can read all about it. Unfortunately, there is no audio of him singing ‘Circle of Life’.

Thanks to lorealdallas of the North Side forums for the tip off!

ATTENTION!

Due to security issues I’ve been having with the site lately, I have deleted all registered users except admins and authors on north-side.net. This does not affect registration on the forums. Since registration on the blog served no real purpose, I went ahead an removed everyone’s accounts. (My other option was to go through all the subscribers and figure out which ones were real. I don’t have the time nor patience for that.)

If, for any reason, you used this feature to be notified of any new posts, you can subscribe directly to our feed by going here and adding us to your blog reader.

On a somewhat-but-not-really note, changes to north-side.net are being planned. Feel free to email me at morgan.viera@gmail.com with ideas and suggestions.

Natasha Shneider

This just in from Jubilee’s MySpace:

Natasha Shneider

On July 2nd, Natasha Shneider passed away peacefully in her home. On that day, at 11:11 am, cancer took Natasha from us all… Temporarily… Only for her to begin a new challenge and chapter in her eternal existence. This world lost a woman whose intelligence, individuality, talent, and aura was so incredibly powerful, that even if you only ever briefly encountered her, there’s no way that you could possibly ever forget it, or not have it affect you somehow. For those who didn’t have the pleasure and blessing of knowing, or just meeting Natasha in this lifetime, she will surely inspire even more souls once we’ve all met up with her again on the other side.

Natasha was not only undoubtedly one of the most gifted musical talents we’ve ever had the honor to cross paths with, but beyond her extraordinary gifts as a musician, songwriter, producer, etc., with awe inspiring artistic abilities… Such as the most PERFECT pitch that anyone could possibly be blessed with… She was also a vibrant and electrifying whirlwind of inspiration, who blended her outspoken and fearless nature, with a grace and panache unlike that of any other person we ever have… Or ever again will encounter.

Natasha was always able to see the talents and abilities within each of us, that even we were unable to recognize. Whether it was performing before thousands of people in bands such as Eleven, or Queens of the Stone Age… Or producing young, wide-eyed bands such as Wires On Fire in her home with Alain… She never gave any less than everything she had, and made sure that she pulled the same out of everyone else around her. One way or another, Natasha brought the best out of us all.

Please, PLEASE, help alleviate the financial burdens accrued over the course of Natasha’s fight against cancer by donating whatever you possibly can to the Natasha Shneider Memorial Fund here: The Natasha Shneider Memorial Fund. Anything great or small is deeply appreciated.

Also, as a celebration of Natasha’s life, Queens of the Stone Age will be performing a show on August 16th at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Hollywood, California. Please don’t miss this opportunity to honor, and pay tribute to Natasha by way of what she herself respected so very deeply throughout her entire life… The beauty and power of song. All of the proceeds from this event will also be donated to the Natasha Shneider Memorial Fund.

Our apologies to those who have sent in emails, etc., informing us of their plans to travel distances near and far, to see us perform at festivals we were scheduled to play around this same time in Europe, such as Pukkelpop, Frequency, etc. But obviously some things in life are more important than others. Besides that, it’s times like these that make us all realize just how fragile life really is, and how meaningless or petty many of our worries, grievances, and day to day woes really are. So… here’s to keeping your chin up, and making the best with what you’ve got, with what little, precious time we all have here.

Happy Birthday, Travis Keller!

And may all your Oasis fantasies come true!

If you haven’t already checked it out, there’s a recent interview with Travis by one of LA’s resident bloggers, the LAist. In the interview, Travis talks about releasing music, the future of Buddyhead, and of course, whether he will DJ the LAist’s gay wedding.

I regret not taking the several multi-million dollar offers we got during the “internet boom”. Having money would be cool. I don’t regret anything we’ve said or done. It was all in good fun. Plus, that’s what you’re supposed to do when you’re young isn’t it?

Read the rest of the interview here: LAist interviews: Buddyhead’s Travis Keller.

Give em’ some ‘Head…or Hands

Or both. If you haven’t visited Buddyhead in a while - god forbid that you haven’t, it looks like they’re in need of a few new hands:

Since love is a two way street, here’s where you come in: We’re recruiting foot soldiers in the multi-media empire of tomorrow. Particularly, we’re seeking the following.

– People who shoot, edit or produce video
– Web designers
– Accounting and record label managers (Fred’s heading back to France)
– Rock journalists with good taste
– Someone to sells internet ads
– People who can make fine baked goods, who want to promote events, who do odd jobs (like groom the hair around Aaron’s weenie) and who love music, art, film, cool shit and like to write about it.

If you’re interested, and I know you all are, send an email explaining why they should hire you to nate@buddyhead.com and be sure to copy travis@buddyhead.com AND meathead@buddyhead.com. You can totally mention me as a reference.

Thanks to our North Side forum members for the heads up!

Squires of Dimness: Mini Squires #13

Dude, a change is due.Continuing with the mini misadventures of the SoD, I present to you the newest Mini Squires. Here, Squire North comes to terms with life’s changes such as a cracking, squeaky voice, hair growing in places they never grew before, and a new wardrobe. He explains his coming to terms with the tallest fellow Squire who appears to be having a rather difficult time accepting that he is no longer a squireling in a white button-down shirt, but instead, a squireling in a band T-shirt.

Rebel Hiss Video (again)

Remember back in April I posted a rough cut of Jubilee’s video for Rebel Hiss (then had to take it down ‘coz it was too early for previews)? Well, now it looks like the video is done! I think! (It’s posted on Buddyhead’s YouTube, so we assume it’s finished.) Here ya go:

PS. See if you can you spot our very own sancha? Thanks to her for notifying me about the video!

TopSpin on Wired

There’s an article that came out today on Wired’s music blog, Listening Post, about TopSpin, including a mention of Jubilee. Read the rest of the article here: TopSpin Lets Bands Ape Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails.
